You need to change the batteries in both your receiver box AND remote. Then you have to have the receiver box set in the middle to Remote in order for the remote to operate the fireplace. But changing the batteries should fix your issue.

Hmmm, that’s interesting. It sounds like you know how everything works. I would try to just re-learn it to see if it resets it and starts working correctly.

You just need to press on & off at the same time and it will change it back.

installed 2024… Model ew 4001th-a remote…
Had everything working OK last year. Located remote in a “sweet” spot where temp would work nicely…
Did my yearly battery change in remote and receiver..
Now it all still turns on and off as should, but having a bear of a time to get to regulate… had the remote temp set to “turn on” at 64F but the room temperature gets way to cold and then goes way to hot…. the room temp on remote went to 71F once and never shut the logs off? The room temp on the remote not consistent with other known room temp readings…it seems to drop below the 64F to 62F and heat to maybe a “too warm” 69-70F before shutting off… I am well acquainted with the remote setting and display, it seems the differential setting are not maintaining a comfortable temp…. same scenario as last year, same remote location, room ceiling fans, flame height on logs,etc.

do I have to “re-learn” the remote and receiver if batteries replaced on both?

Remote shows display
Box has flashing red light when set to remote
Box will turn logs on when set to ON

Remote on and off buttons do nothing

my remote started giving me the temp. reading in celsius all by itself.
I have EW Model No: 4001TH-A
I cannot figure out how to get it back to reading the temp in fahrenheit

If you have done all of that and it is still not working, you may need a new remote. You can purchase one from use here or just continue to use the on/off receiver box. https://www.ebay.com/itm/233892643310

The “Set” button allows you to control the thermostat for your gas logs. If you want the logs to automatically turn on or off when the room reaches a certain temperature, this button allows that. Since your remote acts as the thermostat, the temperature reading will be based on where the remote is located in the room.

To activate thermostat mode, simply hold down the “Set” button until the display shows your desired room temperature, then release it. The fireplace will turn on and heat the room until the temperature around the remote matches your setting, at which point it will automatically shut off.
